New Millennium Awakening seeks to foster greater awareness, understanding, communication, healing and enlightenment among all the inhabitants of Earth. The name symbolizes our hope that we are entering a new era when knowledge will increase in many realms including recognizing the deep ties that bind us all such that we may come to respect one another and peacefully coexist.
Our initial interest when we began in 2006 was working to develop technology as a force for good. The Internet is a great resource, and, it is still being developed. It can do even more. It was our desire to develop new ways of bringing diverse peoples together in shared nonprofit endeavors via the Internet.
Our first initiative Find Rising Stars was designed to help minority students and students at small colleges connect with employers and find fulfilling jobs and to promote the importance of the humanities and human values among college students and employers alike. ( see: www.findrisingstars.org )
Our second initiative The New Millennium Renaissance Scholars was a summer and ongoing Mind, Body, Spirit, Right and Left Brain leadership initiative for first generation and minority college students. ( see: www.newmillenniumscholars.org )
Our third initiative was a statewide NC Invitation to The Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu focused on fostering good relationships between young people of varying faiths, races and ethnicities.
Currently we are working on developing new initiatives in Transformational Education, Transformational Medicine and Transformational Healing or Mind, Body, Sprit, Heart and Soul.
